National Immigrant Integration Conference

Seattle will host the largest ever conference on immigrant integration next week with over 600 people coming from 38 states, more than 190 presenters, over 50 sessions, and several special events.

OneAmerica and the National Partnership for New Americans, together with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, are bringing the National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC 2011) to Seattle from Oct. 24-26.

WHAT: The 4th annual National Immigrant Integration Conference
Monday, October 24 – Wednesday, October 26
WHERE: The Westin Seattle

NIIC 2011 will feature an incdredibly diverse group participants from across the country and abroad, including representatives of immigration  organizations, faith, labor, U.S. government, service organizations, elected officials, and more. Executives from 8 of the 9 national refugee resettlement agencies will be attending as well. 

Visuals for Television & Photography

Two key events will provide great visuals for TV and photography:

A Naturalization Ceremony, presided over by Director Alejandro Mayorkas, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, followed by an Opening Reception where new citizens will join NIIC participants and celebrate with music by Shumba Marimba

A special event with acclaimed film maker Stanley Nelson who will screen clips from his award-winning documentary Freedom Riders and join a dialogue between civil rights activists and participants in the immigrant rights' movement. Also includes Ron Sims, national DREAM leader Gaby Pacheco, Freedom Rider Dr. A. Lenora Taitt-Magubane, and local winners of the Freedom from Fear Award, a national award honoring ordinary people who have committed acts of extraordinary courage on behalf of immigrants
