Immigrant Workers Demand Respect & Dignity in Statewide Marches this Sunday
April 28, 2011
Are you angered by efforts to scapegoat immigrants and unions for our state's budget woes? Join immigrant workers and advocates this Sunday, May 1, for marches and rallies in Seattle and across Washington State! If you live in Washington, you won't be far from an event!
At the 11th Annual May 1st March & Rally in Seattle, organized by several groups including OneAmerica, participants are demanding dignity and respect for immigrant workers in a political environment that seeks to limit not only their bargaining rights, but their access to health care and driver’s licenses. The marches are also part of a nationwide call for an end to the separation of families resulting from deportations.
In addition to Seattle, OneAmerica community base groups are working with other organizations in planning May 1st marches and rallies across the state, including Ellensburg, Mt. Vernon, Vancouver, Walla Walla, and Yakima. You are welcome to join any event and help raise your voice in support of immigrant and workers' rights!
