August 5, 2011 Residents to Testify in Support of Majority-Minority DistrictsResidents and OneAmerica members from across South King County will be testifying in support of the majority-minority “Unity Maps” at a Washington State Redistricting Commission public hearing this Tuesday in South Seattle. This is the final hearing before the public comment period closes and is expected to be the largest of 18 the Commission has hosted across the state this summer. The “Unity Maps,” developed by the United for Fair Representation coalition, propose the creation of a new 10th Congressional district in south King County and legislative districts in King, Pierce and Yakima counties that are a majority-minority.
