Tell Commissioners to Keep Majority-Minority Districts in Final PlansYour voices and testimonies helped change the shape of our children’s futures. You told the Commissioners that this was not about lines on a map, this is about our children, their education, health care and opportunity. And 3 out of 4 Washington State Redistricting Commissioners released first-draft maps that include a majority-minority Congressional district—one which mirrored the Unity Map that we fought for. Public comment on the draft plans closes on October 11. Tell the Commission that you support majority-minority districts that will strengthen representation for our community. It's easy! We already wrote a draft letter that you can make your own. Send a quick email to Commissioners before October 11. Even though few people thought we would win, OneAmerica teamed up with the Win-Win Network, the NAACP, and others to form United for Fair Representation, a coalition that submitted district maps that would maximize representation for immigrant communities and communities of color. We launched a massive campaign and turned out hundreds of people to almost all of the 18 public hearings across the state.
