"Charting our Course in a Changing Political Landscape"

  Join us and we will help you understand the complex issues and give you the tools to
  communicate with lawmakers.

  Why Attend VCN's 2013 General Assembly Preview:  This training will prepare you to speak
  knowledgeably on vital environmental issues. It is the perfect preparation for the Conservation
  Lobby Day in January. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning how to impact
  environmental policy at the state level, so feel free to invite your friends. Registration includes
  meals and a copy of Our Common Agenda, Virginia Conservation Network’s 2013 briefing book.

What You Can Expect:  The day begins with an overview of VCN's 2013 Conservation Briefing Book  -- your go-to guide
for conservation at the state capitol. In-depth sessions provide the opportunity to learn about important conservation issues.

  • Lobbying 101 "Building Relationships with Your Legislators." The importance of and tips on how to build a relationship with your legislator" 
  • Lobbying 201  "Getting Your Communities' Voice Heard Over the Lobbyists' During Session." Learn some of most effective ways to amplify the voice of your communities and the best times to get the attention of your legislator during the General Assembly.
